No longer does my baby girl sit for a montly picture. I saved her a few times during our little photoshoot form crawling off the chair and crashing to the ground. The first picture is pretty much the epitome of Gracelyn lately!!!
I cannot believe she is already 8 months old! She is starting to lose some of her chub.. but is still a big girl. We just switched her into size 4 diapers and she is out of her 12 month clothes... 12-28 and 18-24 for this baby!!! (in Utah she wore 2T jeans we just had to cuff them)
Of course the planner in me is getting VERY excited about her FIRST birthday party.. (which I have secretly been planning for the last 5 months of her life!!!) Less than 4 months till my baby girl becomes a toddler... well actually she has already become a toddler to us !!! She thinks she can walk... which most of the time leads to the floor, but she LOVES pushing her walker and walking behind it. At first all I could see was the walker getting ahead of her and her crashing to the floor... however, she has only fallen once and she was still holding onto the bar so she actually swung into it.. leaving a bump.
Unfortunately along with this new stage of toddling she has had one of her first bigger accidents... no major ones but some that called for ice and some coaxing to calm her down. Poor baby girl she now knows how to roll onto her tummy and slide off the couch onto her feet or her bum... but this time she rolled a little too far and landed on the side of her head... remember that wood floor David installed back when she was born... yeah... OUCH a goose egg quickly formed but after a good old bag of peas and some snuggling with her daddy she was all smiles again!
She has learned how to pull herself up in her crib to the standing position...
FOOD! She eats whatever we eat... I have begun making the baby food puree of everything... and I mean everything! Her dinners (frozen ice cubes) consist of carrots, squash, noodles, tomatoes and avocado... and though it took her a day to get used to ALL the chunks... she LOVES them now! I am saving HUGE since we stopped buying baby food! Depending on what we have for dinner I toss it into the blender and make the next couple of dinners for her! Her lunches and snacks usually are cut up bananas, avocados, blueberries, veggie puffs, hard boiled egg yolk, toast, and cut up meats... she is still eating fruits out of the jar but that is my next step to boil the fruits and freeze them :) She tried her first pickle...Daddy's idea not mine and she BIT into that thing... along with chewing on a cold corn on the cob.. she uses her little teeth to scrape off the kernels!
You can see her two front teeth if you click on the picture below
Some other new things:
She learned how to drive... don't worry the car was parked... but she LOVED hanging onto the steering wheel.
She also got o experience what it would be like to be a deep sea diver... She started off trying to drink out of the bowl then somehow it ended up on her head :)
She can drink out of a straw now and tries to drink out of EVERY cup she sees even if it is filled with soapy water! She is still LOVING her car seat and it is HUGE, one of the widest ones out there... perfect for our little chubette :) We also have started using the car seat ice packs... it is this small blanket that holds two LARGE ice packs.. when you lay it over the car seat one keeps the seat cool and the other keeps the back cool... it lasts ALL day and even remains cold till 11:00 p.m. WE LOVE IT... I REALLY RECOMMEND IT! The brand is Baby Bee Cool and it is SO worth the money! The metal in is actually freezing cold!!! Amazing!
She swims a lot and loved the pool but still prefers the hot tub to the pool... she doesn't mind the heat at all :)
She LOVES her puppy and loves playing with her. Gracelyn will lie on her back and Daisy will stand over her with a squeaker in her mouth, Gigi tries to grab it and Daisy pulls it away. Hey I will take Daisy for a babysitter any chance I get. Gracelyn is a turbo crawler one minute she is there the next... who knows? She recently pulled the coffee table over and we have now purchased an ottoman that will act as a soft coffee table AND opens up for a toy box... LOVE THIS! Right now the thing that gets her into the most trouble is the dog food and water... she plays in the water and TRIED eating the food, we later found chewed up dog food that had been spit out all over the floor... who can blame her is isn't exactly cheerios!
The thing that has challenged me the most is putting EVERYTHING into her mouth... so far we have found :
piece of blue plastic
the letter L (foam)
hair tie
piece of plastic
styrofoam
leaf
string
dog food
the letter L (AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME A MAGNET)
so we have been REALLY working on keeping our floors CLEAN!!!!!! A lot of it is either dragged in by daisy or found in tiny places that we can't get to!
So far this month has BY FAR been the most fun! She plays games... (hide and go seek) and is beginning to learn the word "No" She is really entertaining and we love seeing her little personality form... she is a little sassy pants sometimes ;) My favorite is when she wants you so she will crawl to you and then stand up while pulling on your leg!!! I LOVE MY HUG A BUNCH!
Can't wait to see what this next month will bring for our family!

Such cute pictures!!
Are you using the Cool Seat? I've been contemplating buying one of these but didn't know if it would stay cold while we were out running errands and it sat in a hot parked car.
Adorable little cutie patootie! Give her a BIG kiss from all of us Schmach's!
Amanda! I love reading all your updats about Gigi :) Love the nickname! It's so cute! She is just adorable and I can't believe how big she is getting so fast!
