Night #1 of sleep training.
Today we took the side off of Gracelyn's crib. We were encouraged to do this before the baby came since we would be moving her to a big girl twin bed come September. We figured if we get her used to a toddler bed now... her converted crib... then by the time we move her it will be a lot easier than going straight to the twin. We also wanted to do this before she learned how to open her door... and before it became a challenge as opposed to just a normal routine for Gigi.
We put her to bed with her regular night time routine. She was excited to crawl into bed with both Mommy and Daddy. As soon as we were done saying prayers we said goodnight to her, kissed her and shut the door. Immediately she crawled out of bed and stood by the door screaming for a good 10 minutes... yup... torture... for me that is ;) Crying was on and off for the next half and hour... but it got quieter and we could tell she was getting sleepy. Once she was quiet for a good 30 min we went in to find her asleep on the floor curled up with her blankie. David picked her up and put her back in her bed. We went back to check on her another hour later expecting to find her asleep still since she had not made any noise... surprisingly she was on the floor again next to the door with her blanket and binky just sleeping away... this time I put her back into her crib and pushed her against the back so she wouldn't roll out. Not that we know it had happened, more or less preventing from happening.
So far... so good... we will have to wait and see what happens :)

You guys are so cute. I can tell you're all excited about this! You're pretty brave!
I always love reading about your little family and the new adventures you come to. It also gives those of us without adorable children in sight of the many different excitements you go through! Can't wait to see some pictures of that adorable prego belly of yours!
I've been thinking about this recently with Enoch, wondering when is a good time to put him in a toddler bed. But my Lord, he moves ALL over the crib! He would absolutely fall off, ha ha!
I'm not looking forward to this time, when they can get out of the bed and are banging on the door crying! Ugh! You would think the sleep issues go away when they're babies and you put them on a schedule!
