My sweet Grandpa Chicken :)

Well first off I have to say that if you haven't realized already I tend to change my blog design pretty often :) There are just so many cute ones out there and I love to change it depending on my mood or the day!! Makes sense since I have a note pad that I change out every month!!! Hey, if I can't rearrange the house or if my hubby STILL won't let me paint our door red then at least I can change this :)

My Mom, Gigi and I drove into a blizzard on our way up and forced us to stay in Filmore since the roads  were so bad. We were NOT expecting snow in May... I was wearing flip flops ;)

We woke up to this winter wonderland in Filmore! It continued to snow on and off while we were there and Alyssa and I drove for three hours through another snow storm on our way back to AZ

For those of you who know we traveled up to Utah to be with my family and my Grandpa Chicken (we have called him that since my older sister was really young) during his last few days. It was such a blessing to be able to get there and talk with him and cry and laugh with him. He was even telling us jokes the first day we arrived at the hospital. The second day they moved him to my Aunt and Uncles house where we could be with him and he would be more comfortable. It was no nice spending time with him reading letters, watching movies and just having him with us like the way it has always been. It was such a tender and tough time for all of us. It was so nice to be by his side but it was so hard watching him slowing fading away. The day we left to return home I held his hand and kissed it telling him I would see him again one day... 13 hours later just as we pulled into the driveway we got the call that he had peacefully left us.

His first time meeting Gigi when she was only 2 months old!

My beautiful Mom, her sweet Dad and my baby girl!

The most amazing and gracious man I have ever known!

Looking back I am so glad we took the time to drive up and see him, and laugh with him. I will miss him forever and love him always! Unfortunately we weren't able to make it back up in the next few days for his funeral and memorial service but my sweet Mom sent us pictures and we heard it was a beautiful service and time of reflection on all that he did during his life. He played baseball for his college, was drafted into the war, was a teacher, became a councilor and watched as his kids blessed him with 7 Grandchildren. It was so special that he even got to meet and hold his great granddaughter before he passed. What a legacy... and what a difference he made in so many people's lives! I am honored to call him my Grandpa!

Oh, how precious that you got that time with him. I'm so sorry that you lossed him, but it sounds like he had an amazing life.

P.S. I absolutely adore that pic of Gigi, you need to frame it!
