*** This is an update for all our friends and family! Warning! It is a long one ***
Yesterday we got a little too close to meeting our baby girl than we would like. I had been up since 5 am tossing and turning because I was having some pretty painful contractions and it was spreading around to my back just like it did when I was in labor with Gigi. We called the Dr. and they told us to go into the hospital and get monitored just to be sure I wasn't going into pre-term labor. We dropped Gigi off with my older sis and headed over. We got there around 10 am and they hooked me up the monitor and got an IV started to give me some fluids. They were going to rule out dehydration for the cause of the contractions. My sister came to keep me company and David was able to get some work done on the computer. Around one they gave me some trebutaline in hopes of getting the contractions to stop and the pain to lessen. The shot was great! Of course I started shaking like crazy and I got the giggles... seriously I couldn't stop laughing... aside from a racing heart and some other crazy side effects it did nothing. David had ran out to McDonalds because I was craving french fries and being the amazing hubby he is went and got some so it was just me and Alyssa cracking up!
After a few more tests and more monitoring they sent me get an ultrasound just to check on the baby who was doing fine on the monitor. Everything measured great! She is anywhere from 3 to 3.5lbs already... of course they told me the week before I delivered that Gigi would be 6 or 7 pounds she was 9!!!!! They measured the fluid around her and everything looked great so they sent us back to the room for yup more monitoring. Around 5 they gave me a shot of fenegrin and morphine apparently when they work together they can also calm down contractions... not for me... aside from making me dizzy and allowing me to nap without being in pain the contractions remained the same.
Finally they checked me to make sure I wasn't dilating and sure enough I was beginning to. Not much barely a cm but still too much for being still 10 weeks away from our C-section date. Some time around 7 they told us we were ready to go... then the nurse came back in informing us that the baby was now doing some crazy heart rate drops and jumps so they wanted us to stay another few hours and possibly overnight to monitor her and make sure was okay... umm yeah with all those drugs in my system no wonder ;)
Well by this time David went home to get our things to stay and my Mom came and stayed with me. By 9 they were feeling pretty good about letting me go home so we finally got ready to leave just then I started to spot... are ya kidding me! They decided they wanted me to stay and they were going to put in a catheter to get some more tests... at the last min they decided just to perform an internal exam to find the source of the blood... they found it and thankfully it wasn't anything too concerning... so for real this time I got dressed AGAIN and Mom and I just walked out as fast as we could before they could try and keep us for another test haha!
What a crazy day! At one point I was trying to imagine what it was going to be like delivering a 3 pound baby and probably having to leave her in the NICU for a month or so... I was so thankful when we were on our way home and I could put that thought out of my head! Okay we just have to keep her cooking for another 2 months!
I have a Dr's appt on Monday to check my progress and see if we need to move the C up. I guess we will just wait to see what the next step is. Until then I have wonderful friends visiting me and keeping me company while helping with Gigi! Tomorrow is my birthday and I am hoping I can go to a movie with my hubby other than that it is sit sit sit for this pregnant mama ;)
