We dropped off the babies with his parents on Friday and headed to California... no diaper changing stops... no need to make a bottle or feed the kiddos! With one stop for lunch we made it all the way to Escondido in almost 6 hours exactly! We visited for a little while with David's Aunt and Uncle and then we headed out to the Padres game! The Padres are David's favorite baseball team and have been since he grew up in San Diego! His Grandpa had given the tickets to his Aunt and Uncle and they so graciously gave them to us! It was so fun... a traditional hot dog and peanuts at the game... in the 22 row David was a few feet away from catching a foul ball... his Grandpa has caught a few in those seats ;)
Unfortunately before the game was over we got a call from our sweet SICK girl! She said she was "sad and she needed her Daddy" this just killed David as he sat there listening to her sobbing on the other end asking him to come home now. She had been sick and throwing up... poor girl! We decided to check in the morning and if she was still sick we would turn around and come home. By the time my sister had picked them up and brought them to my parents house Gigi was her normal self again... THANK YOU JESUS! It is SO hard to be away from your babies as it is... them being sick and begging you to come home makes it even worse!
My Mom gave her some Chicken Noodle Soup and gave us the okay to stay so we headed to Carlsbad Beach! It was beautiful! Not a lot of people there and we just closed our eyes and relaxed on the silky smooth sand. There wasn't a cloud in the sky... beautiful sunshine and I even went in the water up to my waist... EEK still a little cold as CA usually is!
We both forgot to put sunscreen on our legs and boy were they red that evening... and you can see a little here... my tummy was REALLY red... I was in a lot of pain that night.. DOI! Never again will I forgot to sunscreen my yummy ahhhhh!
After our beach trip we changed our clothes and headed over to the Oulets for some Mocha Coconut Fraps and some shopping. Since both David and I will celebrate our birthdays next month we got each other a little sometime while we were there!! That night his Aunt and Uncle BBQd some DELISH food and we enjoyed visiting and laughing!
The next morning we got up went to church with his Aunt at Maranatha. It was a beautiful service and I am really glad we were able to go. No kiddos or pregnant belly holding us back like last year ;) We then drove to his grandpa's house and went to lunch at Anthony's Fish Grotto... I had the BEST Clam chowder bread bowl... MMm We listened as his Grandpa told us stories and highlights from his past then we said goodbye and headed back to AZ!
It was SO nice to have some time for just the two of us to get away and relax. We both felt recharged and refreshed and couldn't wait to get back to our babies!!!
Thank you again to our parents and families who helped watch the girls!! And a HUGE thank you to Aunt Elyse and Uncle Jeff for being such thoughtful and gracious hosts! We look forward to our annual June trip next year and visiting Sea World WITH the kiddos!
