Week 13 for Gracelyn!

Some things that have happened... she has begun to wean herself off the breast. I think we have come to find out that she doesn't get enough at each feeding so she gets frustrated :( So now I am pumping trying to keep my milk supply and so we are giving her bottles. She is eating 6 oz.... so I pump about two or three times just to get 6 oz :( The good news is she now sleeps 9 hours at night now that she has a full belly... I however, get up around 3 or 4 to pump... so it works for me... I am just starting to miss our feedings :( No snuggles with my baby girl, no rocking her to sleep... but I know this is better than her waking up every two or three hours because she was hungry!

mommy made her a fun pink bow :)

Mommy made her a blue bow but it ended up being too tight :(

Aww, I'm sorry you're missing nursing. We were having lots of problems breast feeding so I've been exclusively pumping for a few weeks now and completley relate to missing the closeness with Colin.
I have some major supply issues and have a prescription to help with things (although I still supplement with formula) but if you haven't tried Fenugreek (herbal supplement that you can get at GNC or other health store) you might want to give it a try. It was recommended by a lactation consultant and I definitley noticed that I had a bit more output once I started using it. Good luck! :)

Oh, this is so hard! I'm so sorry! Nursing is difficult at times, but its so rewarding. I stopped with Capri at 6 months (because I had to for a few different reasons, not because I wanted to) and it was so hard! I would for sure try the Fenugreek- its amazing, and you can even get it in a tea version I think its called "nursing mothers tea" and it has all the herbs that help with production. But also- Gracelyn is SO young, and its totally normal for her to be waking up every few hours, that is how Capri was, and I honestly can't think of any of my friends that had babies that slept through the night without eating until at least four months. For Capri, after she was 4 months old, it was more of a sleep issue then eating issue. Once we got her sleep issue (reluctantly through the "cry it out method" even though it isn't really a cry it out sort of thing, and it worked wonders) she slept straight through the night after that (12 hours). Their digestion slows down at night (just like an adult) and after about four months they shouldn't be hungry at night- but before then- its totally normal for them to wake up. The other reason? Breast milk digests much faster then formula milk, and so if you are supplementing her with formula (idk if you are or not?) she will be able to go longer with formula. Maybe its not that she isn't getting enough milk- its just her age, and the fact that shes getting breastmilk that has her waking up (both TOTALLY normal). I know how much you love breastfeeding- and I know what a benefit it is to the both of you- so I thought I would share my thoughts with you. Hope it helps! BlessingS!
