2 Weeks Old!

Here are some things that happened this week!

Everything was going great. Gracelyn was sleeping in her crib in between each feeding. Only waking up every three hours to eat and then falling back asleep. Then one night she decided that she didn't like her crib anymore and she would only sleep if I was holding her. Well I knew that wasn't going to work so after being up with her for almost 5 hours I gave in and brought the moses basket into our bed and she slept in there in between David and I. She slept until 11:00 am as did mommy ;)
I went to bible study last night and I got some great tips. Talking to the other mom's about how their baby was sleeping helped a lot. I tried them all and it was great! She slept the entire night like she used to. She woke up to eat and then went straight back to sleep. I couldn't believe how rested I was. I could wake up to feed her at 8 am and then start the day unlike the other day when I slept till lunch time to get my hours of sleep back. This is what a tried last night... lets hope it wasn't lucky and that it continues!!!!

I swaddled her with her arms out and up by her face. (She LOVES her hands! she always likes to have them right under her chin or lie on them)
Then I put her in the moses basket and then put the basket in the crib. (I think she likes the smaller area.. just like the NICU beds and the little bed she slept in when she slept in our hospital room for the first four nights of her life.)
I then tilted her so she was on her side. I propped her up with a small pillow and since she was a little burrito it was safe to have that in the moses basket with her. (Also, the way she lays on her side presses her binky into her mouth and keeps it from falling out)
Finally I turned on some lullaby music fairly loud. I had it at a regular talking volume. (My mom suggested that since she sleeps during the day with the vacuum going, the dog barking, the pounding and hammering of David putting the floor in, and the television and us talking normal... it may be too quiet for her at bedtime. So we had that going all night and boy did that help!

UPDATE ON PROJECT FLOORING: David finished the family room in one day and we were able to put all the furniture back together. Now he is working on the kitchen which is almost finished as well. His next project... painting the upstairs hallway :)

I can't believe it worked! I hope this continues I sure like feeling rested and then she had a better day too because of it!
Please pray that this routine works and sticks!

Love you all! and thanks to everyone who helped me get a good 7 hours of sleep last night!!

Glad she slept well. Swaddling was a lifesaver for us. When we were done with swaddling and could place the pacifier back in her mouth by herself, leaving a collection of pacifiers scattered around her head was also very helpful...

You're watching John and Kate plus 8 on the television, that's so cute :)
