Hey everyone, it's Alyssa :) I'll be temporarily taking over for Amanda until she can blog herself. So fun! Ok, so as you know last night Amanda starting having contractions. After they got down to 4 minutes apart they went to the hospital to check it out. This was at about 1 in the morning. When the nurse checked her, she was dialated to about a 2. (For those of you who don't understand what that means.. you need to be dialated to 10 centimeters in order to start pushing) So we had a while to go. They monitored her for four hours with very little progress "/ When they left she was dialated to around 2 and a half centimeters. They released them at 5 and said come back when the contractions are stronger and closer together. They gave her some ambien before they left to help her sleep and by the time they got home David said she was acting like a "drunken sailor". They came back to our house, it's closer to the hospital, and slept for a couple hours, then woke up with the big momma contractions. They were strong and painful :( She took a bath to try and relax and eventually went back to the hospital around 10 this morning. At that point she was dialated to a three and they decided to admit her. She finally had an epidural and feels much better. Now we're waiting for the doctor to come in and break her water, and if that doesn't speed things along she'll be given pitocin. Unfortunately we think the epidural is making her sick, she's shaking a lot, which is normal during labor, but it's very uncomfortable for her and it's never easy to see someone you love in pain. Prayers prayers prayers. They would all be loved right now :) Watching David kiss her forehead and softly massage whatever needs to be massaged makes my heart swell with love. It takes a team and David is doing such a great job :) I'll keep you posted! :)
