Gracelyn got this backpack for one if her showers... I didn't know when to start using it... but now that this little kiddo LOVES to run EVERYWHERE I have decided it is not time to try it out. "Buddy" hangs on her back and his tail is what I hold onto. At first I wasn't sure about it but it is really great. I can take her to the store with me and she can FEEL like she can walk where ever she wants, but I can keep her close and prevent her from running under the clothing racks and out of my sight :)
Right now we are only using it for Daddy's baseball games... she LOVES to run around the park, chase after dogs... HUGE dogs... like a rotweiller and play in the mud with the boys... this way she can still walk as much as she wants but with boundaries!

I love my life, my friends, my family and my sweet child. I love this country and the ability to speak and worship freely here. However it is always a great unhappiness and injustice to be judged and publicly ridiculed under the umbrella of that same freedom. I created this blog to share some of the joys in my world and journal some thoughts along the way. And while there will always be someone who might disagree with me or my views, I was quite unprepared and hurt to be met with such malicious and inaccurate accusations regarding a cute little backpack designed to provide my daughter the ability to explore her world on her own two feet using her own two hands with mommy close by. I don't and won't be referring to it as a leash. We use a leash on our cute little dog for safety and protection at the park. Gracelyn's harness is also something to protect her and I'm all for that and any other product that keeps her from being swept away in the bllink of an eye by those who prey upon small children, water that is not properly fenced, a nearby roadway and a bazilliion distractions that could, and often do, cause children to dart away without notice. This tool is an extension....not a replacement for me. My mom reminded me of a trip we took to Disneyland many years ago right after a little girl was plucked from her stroller and whisked away from that huge park in a matter of minutes. My sister and I wore that added protection on that trip....I'm sure the other mother was wishing she had done the same. Let me sum up here by saying this.....parenting isn't something you learn out of a textbook. Parenting is hard work. It requires love, patience, support, encouragement and listening to advice from those who have been there and done that. It is highly individualized as each family unit is unique. I take my role seriously and with much humility as a first time mom. I trust in my care and keeping of Gracelyn while she is with me here on earth...God has given her to David and I to nurture, love and protect in the way He guides us. We are fair and open people who have enjoyed sharing our lives in this blog and hope to continue reaping the benefits of this venue. We welcome your thoughts and feedback and ask that should you feel "passionately" about something, that you share this with love and encouragement as has been the great blessing of this blog for several years.
